MUT Abilities

This scheme is built for pocket passers, so you don’t need to have the fastest QB possible. We have 14 AP to spend on offense, and I strongly recommend using it on abilities that improves your QB’s throwing and help your players get open.

Ability Breakdown

  • Gunslinger (6 AP on Field General or Strong Arm archetype)

  • Route Technician (2 AP on WR1)

  • Route Technician (2 AP on WR2)

  • Short In Elite (2 AP on TE1)

  • Short In Elite (2 AP on TE2)

MUT Personnel

Speed is more important than anything else, so I strongly recommend using a 50/50 Theme Team to get a +2 speed bonus on every player with the Theme Team chemistry. I list some example players below, but with so many different theme teams and with new players always being released, use whatever players fit your team the best.

  • QB - This is the one position where speed isn’t as important. For the best pure passing, you’ll want to use the Aaron Rodgers MVP card, the Tom Brady Tribute card, or the Josh Allen Playoffs card.

  • TE - We want the fastest, tallest TE possible, so players like Darren Waller and Vernon Davis (ideally on a 50/50 Theme Team).

  • HB - We want the fastest HB possible, and if you want Backfield Master for 1 AP then you’ll want to use a Receiving Back archetype, so players like Marcus Allen, Christian McCaffrey, Thurman Thomas, Walter Payton, and Roger Craig. However, you can easily run this scheme without any abilities on the HB, so prioritize just having the best HB possible for your Theme Team.

  • WR - We want the fastest WRs possible who will ideally also be the Route Runner archetype so they can get Route Technician for 2 AP. We also want the tallest WRs possible since height is extremely important in Madden 22, so players like Collin Johnson, Justin Jefferson, Jerry Rice, Davante Adams, and Calvin Ridley.

Regs/CFM Abilities

If you plays regs or are in a CFM, you might not have the luxury of choosing every ability you want. With that restriction, the #1 most important ability for this scheme is a throwing ability, ideally Gunslinger or Pass Lead Elite. Without a throwing ability, you will have an extremely tough time passing the ball consistently. Below are my recommended abilities at each position.

QB

  • Gunslinger (preferred), Pass Lead Elite, or Set Feet Lead

  • Fearless

  • Hot Route Master

WR

  • Route Technician (preferred) or Mid In Elite

TE

  • Short In Elite

RB

  • Backfield Master or Backfield Mismatch

Regs/CFM Personnel

Based on the abilities above, here are the ideal players to use for this scheme. The top priorities are 1) Have a passing ability, 2) Get the fastest players possible, 3) Have as many of the other abilities as possible.

  • Aaron Rodgers (Gunslinger)

  • Kyler Murray (Gunslinger)

  • Russell Wilson (Gunslinger)

  • Josh Allen (Gunslinger)

  • Justin Herbert (Pass Lead Elite)

  • DeAndre Hopkins (Mid In Elite)

  • Ja’maar Chase (Mid In Elite)
