PA DEEP CROSS

Zone & Man Beater

PA Deep Cross is deadly against any coverage in the game, and it all revolves around the extremely deep crosser from the WR on the side of the RB. We get this crosser so deep by smart routing it, which means the closer you are to the first down line, the more shallow (and less effective) the crosser will be. Thus, I only run this play if I’m at least seven yards from the first down line. The crosser is always the primary read on this play, so at the snap I look at the defenders lined up on the short side of the field to see if it looks like they’re dropping deep to potentially cover it. If I don’t feel confident in the crosser, or if the pass rush is coming in, I look at my TE’s on the short/medium depth In routes.
