Base Run Play

Setup:

• Identify the Read Key and Pitch Key pre-snap (defenders with “R” and “P” above their heads)

• If the Read Key crashes in, keep with the QB. If he breaks down or strafes outside, handoff to the HB by holding A on Xbox or X on PlayStation

• If you keep with QB after reading the Read Key, the next read is the Pitch Key. While sometimes the Pitch Key will commit hard to guarding the FB, I recommend pitching to the FB in most cases. Be prepared to pitch it almost immediately since you will often have defenders approaching.

• When attempting a pitch using Lb on Xbox or L1 on PlayStation, it’s better to be too early than too late. Pitching too late creates a very high risk of fumbling, which we want to avoid at all costs.
