POWER OPTION

Base Run Play

Setup:

  • Survey the field to determine which side has fewer defenders (flip the play if necessary by flicking the right stick)

  • Identify the Pitch Key pre-snap (defender with “P” above his head)

  • After the snap, we are almost always going to pitch the ball. If the Pitch Key crashes in, pitch the ball immediately. If the Pitch Key backs off, run at him for a moment before pitching the ball

  • If the Pitch Key commits HARD to guarding the HB (which is rare) then you will have to keep with the QB. In this case, run into the open space and then slide before a defender can tackle you.

  • When attempting a pitch using Lb on Xbox or L1 on PlayStation, it’s better to be too early than too late. Pitching too late creates a very high risk of fumbling, which we want to avoid at all costs.
