Inside Smash

Zone Beater

This setup is so deadly because after your opponent sees you run PA HB Flat over and over again, the last thing they’re prepared for is the deep corner route from the inside WR. This route combo is incredible against Cover 2 and Cover 3, and the corner route will even get over 30 yard zone drops if you have enough time in the pocket. If the corner route does end up being covered, use the zig route or TE curl route as checkdowns.

Alignment

On a hash with the trips receivers lined up on the wide side of the field

Setup

  1. Put the middle WR on a streak

  2. Put the outside WR on a zig

  3. Put the TE on a curl

  4. (Optional) Block the RB

  5. (Optional) Against blitz-heavy schemes, block both the RB and TE

Alternate Setup for Inside Cross Base Play

If you don’t have TE Apprentice or Hot Route Master, then you can use this setup to create a setup similar to what I showed for Inside Cross.

Setup

  1. Put the middle WR on a slant

  2. Put the inside WR on a flat

  3. Put the outside WR on a streak

  4. (Optional) Put the RB on an out route or blocking assignment

Double Pass Glitch

There is a glitch in Madden 22 where on certain plays you can perform an illegal “double pass”. After the first pass, the defense will start to crash in on the receiver, leaving someone open completely unguarded down the field. While this can work with other plays, this setup with Inside Smash is the most consistent that I’ve found. WARNING: THIS WILL NOT WORK EVERY TIME AND ALSO CREATES A HIGH RISK OF FUMBLING

Alignment

On either hash with the trips receivers on the side opposite of your QB’s throwing hand.

Setup

  1. Put the RB on a swing route

  2. After the snap, immediately rollout to the side of the RB swing route

  3. Throw the ball to the RB before he crosses the line of scrimmage

  4. Pitch the ball back to the QB using Lb/L1

  5. Immediately throw to the TE, who will be unguarded down the field
